What is a Dosha

Ayurveda is based on the concept that the five elements, earth, water, air, fire and space, are the building blocks of every lifeform, including our bodies. Each person has a unique combination of the five elements making you who you are on a physiological, emotional, and mental level – think of this as a personalised blueprint to your health!

Your unique combination of the elements is referred to as your “Dosha.” The three doshas are Vata; Pitta; Kapha.

Guided by these fundamental concepts, we at Maruva formulate our products with the understanding that each person requires a customised approach to their beauty concerns. The African botanical extracts we use have therefore been categorised according to the Ayurvedic Doshas and all our finished products reflect this blend of ideologies and cultures.

Maruva Naturals is a brand based on sustainable and fair trade procurement policies. The brand is a firm proponent of the development of a circular economy to minimise waste and recycle Earth’s limited resources.
Oils are only extracted from the indefinitely reusable components of our selected plant species, i.e. the fruits. Oils are puchased, based on fair trade principles from certified harvesters, who are independently audited.

The importance of sustainable harvesting is clearly communicated to the member harvesters and communities resulting in the diligent conservation of the natural resource. Maruva Naturals is a cruelty free brand. We do not test any ingredient or finished product, either directly or indirectly, at any stage of our operations on animals.
